To See or Not to See…

Rabbit

Dear Reader: This is a reprint of my post of one year ago. My experience had such an impact on my life, that I’d like to share it again with all of you. I would suggest that if you have the opportunity to go winter animal-tracking, do it.

We went on an animal tracking expedition this past weekend, through first-winter snow and frigid temperatures. While I could complain about my frozen toes and hands, and my unhappiness with the extreme (and sudden) weather conditions, it was my experience of seeing the unknown which has had the greatest impact on me.

unnerved to have never known this. In fact, I feel so completely astounded that I could have lived this long and not seen/known/ experienced this, that I want to share it with all of you – no, make that scream it from the hilltops: All is not (just) as we see!

Could it be that we all too often miss the signs/signals/information, the minutiae in our lives necessary to fully comprehend the greater elements and, perhaps, the grander plan for our lives?

You decide.

Cyma, I have often wondered what I was missing in the fine details of life as I skittered (Eloise says that is a word so I am using it!) about life getting one task done after another on my to do list. You piece reminds me to “stop and smell the roses” AND to stop and listen for my Maker’s grand plans in my life, and that of my family. Thanks.

Cyma, sounds like you had a great time. It has been our experience that every season has its wonders of nature. If I could comfortably live outdoors, I would! So, does this mean we can all go on winter hike together now that I know the cold temperatures will not deter you from the outdoors?

Truly, I have one response: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Great post and so timely! Thanks for reminding us to slow down, be still, and take in the small wonders and life surrounding us. That is when the big picture comes into focus. Love the photos and clues you collected along the way. Did you ever see the bear?
